Might be a nuclear option, but maybe not allowing dms unless both parties follow each other could be a roadblock for the bots? Any hurdle would keep them back a bit

Sometimes you want to talk to someone without following
And usually people dont follow for follow with random people

Maybe some sort of cap on spaming the same message or a verification process or something. Today alone its been about 5 or 6 back to back with the exact same youtube link
